The Bladon family immigrated to Canada from Illinois in 1910. They settled on a farm near Lang, in southeast Saskatchewan. There were seven children in the family, only two of whom married and left the family home. Four brothers and one sister lived the remainder of their lives on the farm. A remarkable collection of the Bladon family toys, storybooks and games was acquired by the Saskatchewan Western Development Museum in 1995. The cast iron cook stove belonged to sisters Eva and Mildred. A similar model is shown in Eaton's 1917 catalogue. It sold for 45 cents.
