I have a set like this. It belonged to my mother, who was born in 1921. My grandmother kept it on a high shelf, then it passed to my mother, then to me. I am holding it until my daughter has a safe place for it. There is the teapot, sugar, creamer, and two cups and saucers. We treasure them! There are no markings on the bottom. I have always speculated that my great-grandmother brought them back from a trip to Germany in 1921. I saw a set marked "Japan" in a nearby antique store. It wasn't nearly as nice. I have also seen tin sets. Does anyone know value or origin of these sets??

This was my mother's toy tea set. My mother, Lois Jane Brott, was born April 2, 1921 in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. My mother kept her precious tea set desplayed in an antique secretary in our livingroom in Virginia. I grew up admiring it as a fragile treasure and was not allowed to touch it.
I have seen my mothers tea set, identical to the set pictured her and I have also seen two replicas.
Firstly, 3 pieces were replicated by The Wendy Lawton Doll Company, http://www.lawtondolls.com/
The pitcher and two cups were made in a smaller scale and Wendy Lawton identified the set as, Ruthie's Tea Set, circa 1924.
Secondly, I notice that Seeley's a porcelain dollmaking and stoneware products company has reproduced bisque blanks of this set calling it, Googly Tea Set Bisque, SKU: PBISQ801. http://www.seeleys.com/

I have a teapot, creamer, sugarbowl, 2cups and a saucer that belong to my mother when she was a little girl. The set was complete when my mother last played with it but her nieces children got into it and several pieces where broken. My aunt gave her the pieces I mentioned. My mother told me that she received it one Christmas when she was 5 or 6 years old. She was born in June, 1908 in Soo Saint Marie. She lived with her parents at a hydro dam north of the Soo in the Agawa Canyon. The train that is a big tourist attraction was there lifeline. She drove a dogsled with her father to get their supplies. Her education was done by mail. Her maiden name was Doreen Hulme. I have always wonder what the history of the set was about. I thought it might have come from England where my grandparents were originally from.
