My father worked for the Reliable Toy company in the late 40's. Even after he left the company I remeber him buying dolls for friends and relavitive. Does anyone have a photo of the factory from that period?

my grandmother sewed the cloth bodies, and the doll clothes,in the late 1920's and well into the 1930's during the great depression for reliable toy co. they where located on Soho st. near king and spadina here in toronto ont. my mother delivered the sewing and collected the money and the next batch of orders,as my grandmother raised three girls during the depression by herself, with no husband as my grandfather had been permantly hospitalized. i still have the singer sewing machine she used, i would be most interested in seeing photo's of a reliable doll from the early 1930's with the original clothing.

I have a doll which is something like mama doll. She was given to me by my parents about l942 and she was made by Reliable to represent the contest winner across Canada for Canadian children aged 3 to 7. The winner was Canada's Loveliest Child Eva Marlene Heddle On July 4,l936. This contest nationwide across Canada was sponsered by Canadian Magazine Star Weekly. I have treasured her all these years and she still wears her original clothes and her composite is in fine condition. Her name was Baby Marilyn. I wish I could find out more about her and her value today.

Most of my toys I had growing up were made by the Reliable Toy Co. I can't seem to find may sites that give what these toys are worth today. I have a doll that looks very much like the one in the picture on this page, but it isn't a "Mama" doll, but is composition and has "go to sleep" eyes (blue). It had a blue flowered outfit. It was given to me when I was about 3 or 4 by the teenaged girl who owned it, so it is quite old. I also have a little red plastic wind-up toy car (Pontiac) and would be interested if anyone would know about this car.

I found you website by accident. I typed in Dollhouse Games and your wonderful site was on the list. I remember the composition mama dolls. I didn't have any of the ones from by childhood survive [my sister and I used to play outside with them and they got left in the weather]. I have found some of these big babies at doll shows. I have a Baby Dimples, a Snoozie, a Baby Beautiful and a big Mama Doll with brown mohair curls. Do any of these sound familiar ?
