Barbie dolls were modelled after a German doll named Lilli, inspired by a character in a comic strip caracter. They were launched in 1959 by Mattel, an American Company located in Hawthorne, California. Barbies fashion outfits made her the princess of the world of many children. She has always been the image of a special era and lifestyle. To date, over one hundred million Barbie dolls have found a home. These dolls were manufactured in Japan.

I secretly played with my Barbies until I was 13. I had everything; the motorhome, the kitchen, the horse...and when puberty hit and the breasts I really did not want began to grow anyway, I felt I had an ally. Thanks, Barbie!
