I grew up in Quebec City, Canada. I am an american, but my step father was French Canadian, so he moved us up from NY to Quebec when I was about 6 years old. I would often spend my summers on a farm in Gasepesie, Quebec. The family who owned and ran this old fashioned farm would play Pichenolle almost every evening, and I cannot recall a game for which I have such vividly fun memories. I am actively looking for a Pichenolle game, or something similar for my family of 5. Does anyone have any ideas? I want to share the joy of this game with my family.
Thanks, Thane

We played it throughout my childhood. I come from a family of 11 children and we had rousing games of pichenotte with our parents. My dad was especially good at it even with the tips of two fingers missing from having cleaned his hunting rifles when he was younger.
My dad had made the game himself

we used to play this game in Santa Fe though the board was different from the one pictured. We had leagues and would play in a different bar every week (Blue Corn brewery was my favorite). We had competitions too.It was a lot of fun! Dave and Norm made some great boards!

My grandfather and his brothers had pichenotte boards that had recessed alleys and 12 posts on the playing surface (four in the center and two in front of each pocket). The rules we followed were similar to pool. Does anyone know where this version of the game may have come from?

Please Please Please advise!

I actually grew up playing Caroms Board as we called it in India. Never actually played Pichenotte but I wish someone would make this game so we can play it online someday.
If anyone has links to the game please email to Maluprynce@hotmail.com

My wife and I play pichenotte all the time, at our home in Ottawa. I learned about it from her relatives in Montreal. We were always getting together and playing with her grandmother and grandfather, who were both amazing players. We bought ours in Montreal at a hardware store. There is a company in Quebec called Bo-Jeux toys in Anjou Quebec that makes them. 450-355-4444. Great family game.

Fantastic game. We have a board made by the Pichenotte Game Board Company in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I guess they have ceased making their extremely high quality game boards which is a shame as this game is good for a lifetime of enjoyment. David, if you are still around, drop me a line. Everyone who sees it marvels at the craftmanship.

I have many fond memories of playing the game called Pichenotte on your site with my grandfather, who was born in Belleville in 1880. In fact I still have a game board identical to the one shown in your picture in my basement. He was a deadly shot, and could easily beat me even when he was in his '80s.
We used rings to play, which I also still have, the same ones used to play Crokinole, which is on the other side of the board.
The funny thing is, he never called it Pichenotte. To him, the game's name was Caroms.

Our family is originally from Quebec.
Our grandfather made one in 1926 after he moved to Connecticut. After Connecticut, the family moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The game we call pichenotte is different than the one pictured on your site. We shoot for a center hole and there are eight posts on the board. Sometimes it is referred to as crokinole.
From 1997 to 2001, we manufactured a high-end version of the game under the company name of Pichenotte Game Board Company.
We would like to know more about the origins of the game as well.
We have many happy memories playing this game with all our relatives in Connecticut. We were the only family that had a board or knew about the game.
Thanks for the opportunity to add my story.
